Gergely Farkas is a skilled felter with a passion for preserving and teaching traditional crafts. With a background in environmental research from Eötvös Loránd University, he combines his expertise in open-air ethnographic museology with his artistic talents.
Gergely’s work highlights the beauty and practicality of felt-making, an ancient craft rooted in resilience and cultural memory. His felt creations, inspired by Hungarian and Central Asian motifs, have been widely exhibited and earned him honors such as the Pomegranate Award and the title of Young Master of Folk Art.
With the support of the Tulipán Foundation, Gergely focused on the pastoral art and built heritage of the Zselic region. He compiled a reference collection of decorative patterns for felting, created textiles and tote bags inspired by local traditions, and shared his findings through workshops and exhibitions.
