Nanette M. McGuinness is a classical soprano and musicologist of Hungarian descent. She has performed leading operatic roles in thirteen languages on two continents and is the Artistic Executive Director and co-founder of Ensemble for These Times, an award-winning contemporary chamber music ensemble dedicated to championing underrepresented voices in classical music.
As the recipient of the 2026 Tulipán Art & Culture Award, Nanette, in partnership with Ensemble for These Times, will present Emigrés & Exiles in Hollywood Meets Modern Noir, a concert celebrating the chamber music of Hungarian American émigré composers Eugene Zádor and Miklós Rózsa. The program places their rarely performed works alongside music by fellow émigré composers and newly commissioned pieces by contemporary film composers, highlighting the lasting influence of Hungarian musicians on American musical culture.
The concert will be presented live and livestreamed from the Piedmont Piano Company music series in Oakland, California, on January 24, 2027. Accompanied by digital and print educational materials, the project will introduce new audiences to the work of Zádor and Rózsa while helping preserve and advance their musical legacy.
