Veronika Somos is a leatherworker who crafts modern fashion accessories inspired by traditional techniques. After discovering her passion for leatherwork at the House of Traditions in Budapest, she has excelled in designing handbags, belts, and jewelry, earning the title of Industrial Artist in Folk Art in 2023.
She frequently collaborates with felter and fellow Tulipán grantee Edina Halmai to create harmonious designs that merge tradition with modern simplicity. Together, Veronika and Edina have organized numerous workshops and training sessions to share their craft with others.
With the support of the Tulipán Foundation, Veronika researched traditional furrier and leatherworking techniques from southern Transdanubia. She also worked alongside Edina to design contemporary clothing and accessories inspired by historical resources and museum artifacts.
