This summer, the Tulipán Foundation was proud to once again take part in the NYC Math Festival, bringing a uniquely Hungarian showcase to one of the city’s most joyful celebrations of mathematics. For this year’s event, we partnered with mathematician Megan Siedman to present Let’s Play Math with Tulipán, inspired by the work of Hungarian educator and innovator Zoltán Dienes.
At the heart of our presence were three high-energy stations designed to spark endless curiosity and introduce new problem-solving skills. Within our booth, participants eagerly tackled flower-shaped math puzzles, raced to assemble giant block games, sorted patterns using hula hoops, and created colorful logic grids. Each activity generated genuine excitement, with lines forming throughout the day and many returning visitors who fondly remembered the Tulipán booth from last year.
Fueled by the enthusiasm of our youngest participants, the spirit of the day was one of play and possibility. Zoltán Dienes' legacy received the attention it so deserves, as people of all ages engaged with his philosophies firsthand—discovering that math isn’t just about numbers, but about creativity and exploration.
For the Tulipán Foundation, the 9th Annual NYC Math Festival marked another meaningful step in our mission to celebrate the richness of Hungarian culture and the potential of our people. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and helped make this year’s festival unforgettable. We’re already looking forward to next year!
